The Tugende Wheelchair Rugby Clinic has ended on a high at MTN Lugogo Arena, leaving athletes sharper, more skilled, and determined to put Uganda on the global wheelchair rugby map.
The three-day camp, which kicked off on Tuesday, brought together top coaches from Italy alongside Uganda’s own Coach Ojara Charles.
The sessions introduced fresh techniques designed to elevate the game locally, benefiting both players and coaches.
While the clinic sharpened skills, it also highlighted ongoing challenges.
Athletes are still grappling with a shortage of equipment and the tough transition to specialized rugby wheelchairs, which require new handling skills and strategies.
With the training camp now complete, the focus shifts to building a strong national team capable of representing Uganda on the world stage — a goal the players and coaches believe is now within reach.
