MTN Monthly Tee Sets Stage for Uganda Open

With the 2025 Johnnie Walker Uganda Open set to tee off next week in Lugazi, Uganda Golf Union president Jackson Were says the August edition of the MTN Monthly Tee has played a vital role in preparing golfers for the prestigious tournament.

More than 151 golfers took part in the August event, held yesterday at Entebbe Golf Club, where David Mpanga carded 65 nett to emerge overall winner.

Players across the men’s, ladies, and guest categories battled for honors at the par-71 lakeside course, which Were believes offers the perfect platform for golfers to gear up for the Open.

“We are scoring high as Entebbe hosts the monthly tee, the Ladies Open at UGC, and various events across clubs in the country. All this shows we are ready for the Uganda Open, which will begin next week with the seniors, followed by the ladies, amateurs, and then the professionals to climax,” Were said.

Top performers in the seniors, men’s, and ladies’ groups were also recognized at the event. The MTN Monthly Tee will return in September at Entebbe Golf Club.
