Veteran athletics commentator Rob Walker has tipped Uganda’s star athletes Joshua Cheptegei, Jacob Kiplimo, and Peruth Chemutai to deliver more success at the upcoming World Championships.
Walker, who has closely followed their rise, said the trio’s mix of talent and work ethic makes them standout performers on the global stage. He pointed to Chemutai in particular as having the potential to set a new world record.
“These athletes have special talents destined to keep rewriting history. I have witnessed them breaking records, and Peruth Chemutai has higher chances of breaking a world record in the World Championships in Tokyo this September,” Walker said.
His comments come as Uganda prepares to host the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon on August 23 in Kasese. The race, now attracting both elite athletes and tourists, has quickly grown into a major event on the country’s sports and tourism calendar.
The twin focus on international success and homegrown events underlines Uganda’s growing reputation as both an athletics powerhouse and a destination for sporting adventure.
