The 2025/26 English Premier League season opened with Arsenal securing a narrow 1–0 win over Manchester United, and Ugandan fans in Mbarara were part of the global kickoff weekend through the Guinness Matchday Experience.
The event, held at Mbarara University Inn, gave supporters a big-game atmosphere as they watched Ricardo Calafiori’s decisive goal seal Arsenal’s victory.
It marked the first stop in this season’s Guinness Matchday parties, which will run across the country in partnership with NBS Sport.
Guinness, officially named the Premier League’s beer sponsor in June through a four-year agreement, is aiming to enhance global football viewing by staging curated watch parties and live match events in bars and entertainment venues.
In Uganda, the collaboration ensures that one Premier League game will be broadcast live every weekend on NBS Sport.
The Mbarara event set the tone for what promises to be another season of fan-driven activations, with Guinness positioning itself at the heart of the Premier League matchday culture.
