World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has pulled out of the US Open mixed doubles draw, just before the tournament’s start.
His withdrawal, confirmed by organizers, follows his retirement from the Cincinnati Open final due to an illness.
Sinner, the reigning US Open singles champion, had been partnered with Katerina Siniakova.
He had to concede the Cincinnati final to Carlos Alcaraz after going 5-0 down in the first set, citing that he “didn’t feel great from yesterday.”
Despite this setback, Sinner has confirmed he will still compete in the US Open singles tournament, stating that Grand Slams are the “main tournaments” for his career.
The American duo of Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison will replace Sinner and Siniakova in the mixed doubles draw.
