West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez has completed a loan move to Turkish club Fenerbahce, with an option for the transfer to be made permanent next summer.
The 27-year-old Mexico international joined the Hammers in a £35 million deal from Ajax in 2023. During his time with West Ham, he made 73 appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Alvarez was an unused substitute in West Ham’s recent Premier League defeat to Sunderland and was not part of the squad for the 5-1 home loss to Chelsea.
This past summer, he captained his national side and scored the winning goal in the Concacaf Gold Cup final against the USA.
Fenerbahce, managed by Jose Mourinho, has also recently signed full-back Nelson Semedo from Wolves and has Jhon Duran on loan from Al-Nassr.
