Kampala Queens will learn their opponents for the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers when the official draw is conducted on August 26 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Ugandan champions, coached by Ethiopian tactician Asefa Firew Hailegebreal, are among nine clubs confirmed for the regional qualifiers, which will run from September 4 to 16 at Nyayo Stadium and Ulinzi Complex.
CECAFA Competitions Manager Yusuf Mossi confirmed that the teams will be placed into three groups of three. Group winners and the best second-placed side will progress to the semifinals, with only one team eventually representing the region at the continental finals later this year.
Kampala Queens head into the tournament looking to secure Uganda’s first-ever ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Their possible opponents include defending champions Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Kenya’s Police Bullets, Tanzania’s JKT Queens, and debutants Denden SC of Eritrea.
