Andrew Kawesa Ssebwalunyo, the Director of Professional Development at the Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda (HRMAU), says the annual HR Sports Gala is a vital platform for promoting wellness and strengthening bonds among human resource professionals.
The third edition of the gala, held over the weekend at Makerere University Business School grounds, drew hundreds of participants who competed in football, volleyball, tug of war, and board games. The activities were designed to foster both physical fitness and camaraderie within the HR community.
“As a country, we are struggling with non-communicable diseases, and part of government’s response is encouraging activities like sports for exercise and networking,” Ssebwalunyo said.
He added that the gala continues to grow in scope and impact. “Every year we host over 500 participants from companies across all sectors, including NGOs, government institutions, and the private sector, all coming together to create fun and connection,” he noted.
The Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda is the national professional body dedicated to the growth and development of HR practitioners across the country.
