Bukedea Comprehensive School has etched its name into East African school football history after winning the 2025 FEASSA Games title in Kakamega, Kenya. The team returned home to a heroic reception led by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among.
The Bukedea side defied the chilly Kakamega weather to conquer the region’s most prestigious schools’ competition. They progressed from Group B as runners-up out of eight teams, then powered through the knockout rounds to secure their first-ever East African crown.
The players could hardly hide their excitement, saying, “This victory means everything to us. We fought as a team, and today we have shown that Bukedea Comprehensive belongs among the best in East Africa.”
On their return, Speaker Among, flanked by FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, officially welcomed the jubilant champions.
Sports Project Manager Katende Malibu commended the effort behind the win. “These boys have shown heart, discipline, and commitment. This trophy is not just for Bukedea but for the entire nation,” he said.
During the handover ceremony, Prof. Jonas Gumikiriza praised the collective support that made the victory possible. “It took teamwork on and off the pitch to achieve this milestone, and we thank everyone who stood with the school,” he noted.
Speaker Among lauded the team’s resilience and rewarded the school with twenty thousand US dollars. She also pledged continued support for grassroots football development.
“You have lifted our flag high and inspired many young people. As leaders, we shall continue to invest in your talent and ensure that schools like Bukedea thrive in sports,” the Speaker said.
With this triumph, Bukedea Comprehensive joins Uganda’s elite group of FEASSA winners, including St. Mary’s Kitende, Buddo SS, Amus College, and Kibuli SS.
The victory not only cements Bukedea’s place in regional football history but also signals a new dawn for sporting excellence in Teso.
