KCCA and SC Villa will square off at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on Wednesday in the opening match of the FUFA Super Eight.
The fixture comes as the first major test for KCCA’s new co-coach Brian Ssenyondo, who has been in charge for just over a month.
Ssenyondo said preparations have been encouraging despite the short turnaround, stressing his emphasis on discipline and attention to detail.
“It has been a positive experience working with the players. We’ve focused on the small things that make a difference at this level,” he noted.
SC Villa’s assistant coach Peter Onen struck a similarly confident tone, pointing out that the Jogoos are determined to open their season strongly. Players from both sides echoed that sentiment, with KCCA captain Filbert Obenchan promising a committed performance and Villa’s Hassan Mubiru declaring his side ready for the challenge.
The FUFA Super Eight begins on Wednesday with another clash between URA and Kitara, followed by NEC’s meeting with Express.
Defending champions BUL will enter the competition against Maroons at Nakivubo Stadium on Thursday.
The first-leg ties will be completed this week, with the decisive return legs scheduled for September 9 and 10 after the international break.
