Crystal Palace have reached a preliminary agreement to sign Spanish winger Yeremy Pino from Villarreal for a fee of up to £26 million.
The 22-year-old is expected to have a medical examination soon. This move comes after Palace’s star player, Eberechi Eze, was sold to Arsenal for £60 million.
Last season, Eze was crucial to Palace’s FA Cup win, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists.
Pino, who has a £69 million release clause, has less than two years left on his contract, leading Villarreal to accept the offer.
The winger has been with Villarreal since 2017 and has three goals in 15 international appearances for Spain.
Manager Oliver Glasner stated he was “very confident” in making new signings before Monday’s deadline. In addition to Pino, Palace is also reportedly interested in Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji for a fee of £15 million.
