Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Ismail Watenga is on the mend following successful surgery on a knee ACL injury that has sidelined him since June.
The 29-year-old sustained the injury during a friendly against Gambia at the Stade de Marrakech Annexe Pitch, just days ahead of Uganda’s crucial World Cup qualifier against the same opponents.
Watenga confirmed that the procedure went smoothly, though the exact timeline for his return remains unclear.
His absence has been a significant blow to the Cranes, depriving the team of his experience and leadership at the back.

Despite the setback, fans remain hopeful that Watenga will make a strong comeback as Uganda continues its World Cup qualification campaign.
