Team Uganda has officially been flagged off today at Copper Chimney, Lugogo, ahead of the Tokyo World Athletics Championship set for September 13–21 in Japan.
The ceremony was presided over by the National Council of Sports Assistant General Secretary Milton Chebet, who expressed confidence in the athletes. Chebet praised their commitment in training and underlined the nation’s expectations.
“Team Uganda has had enough training and we are hopeful that they are going to perform well and bring back all colors of medals to Uganda,” Chebet said.
The delegation will travel in three groups. The first batch departed today, while the second will leave on September 11. The final contingent will follow shortly after, ensuring the full team is in Tokyo ahead of the championship.
Uganda goes into the competition with high hopes, banking on both experienced names and emerging talents to deliver success on the global stage.
