The 27th edition of the NSSF Kampala International Volleyball Tournament served off Friday at Lugogo, drawing 46 teams from Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, Burundi, and Tanzania for three days of competition.
Hosts Uganda opened with dominant performances, signaling intent to end a run of recent editions where local sides fell short against visiting teams.
The showings lifted the crowd at Lugogo, setting the tone for what promises to be one of the most competitive editions in recent years.
Winners of the tournament will earn Shs10 million and the gold medal, while silver and bronze finishers will receive Shs8 million and Shs5 million respectively.
The KAVC International, first held 27 years ago, has grown into one of East Africa’s premier volleyball events, mixing rivalry with a spirit of regional unity.
With two days remaining, Ugandan teams are in strong position. The question is whether they can sustain the momentum and finally reclaim the crown on home soil.
