The National Basketball League playoff semifinals are set after the Magic Stormers and UCU Canons secured the last available spots with decisive victories.
The Stormers made history by eliminating KCCA Leopards in a tense three-game series, sealing their semifinal place with a 52-49 win in the decider on Sunday at the Jaguars Den in Kira.
Having lost Game One, the Stormers staged a remarkable comeback, winning the next two games to advance for the first time ever.
Angella Auma led the scoring with 11 points, while Joy Nekesa Mupaliya collected 12 rebounds.
KCCA, who last lifted the title in 2014, struggled despite their talent, undone by 17 turnovers and poor perimeter shooting.
In the men’s division, UCU Canons rolled past Kampala Rockets 64-38 to complete a 2-1 series victory.
Jimmy Otim top-scored with 18 points, while Joel Kayiira added 12 rebounds as the Canons took control early and never looked back.
The semifinals will feature heavyweight clashes. Defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins take on UCU Lady Canons, while the Magic Stormers face JT Lady Jaguars.
On the men’s side, Nam Blazers meet UCU Canons and City Oilers face Sommet in best-of-five contests.
