Vipers SC have pulled off one of the most talked–about moves of the transfer window, snapping up talented winger Usama Arafat Kiza on a three-year contract following his exit from Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC.
The 21-year-old, who had been out of contract since June 30, weighed up offers both within and outside Uganda before opting to continue his career in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Arafat’s time at KCCA was decorated with influence and end product. Despite battling fitness concerns last season, he managed seven goals and six assists in 23 appearances. A year earlier, he hit double figures with 10 goals and added six assists in both league and continental competitions.
His leadership qualities were also recognized at the 2024 All-Africa Games, where, as assistant captain, he inspired Uganda’s U20 side to a silver medal with three goals and two assists. His progress has since earned him 11 senior international caps.
After penning his new deal, Arafat shared his excitement with the club’s media:
“I’m really excited to be joining Vipers SC, one of the top clubs in Uganda. To me, signing for Vipers SC means joining a big football family with ambition and a winning mentality.”
“It’s an opportunity to challenge myself at the highest level in Uganda, compete for trophies, and represent the club in continental football. It also means growth for me as a player, gaining more exposure, and contributing to the legacy of a team that has achieved alot.”
“I’m eager to get started, train hard, and make a positive impact for Vipers SC. The support of the fans, the club’s management, and my teammates will be crucial in making this a successful tenure.”
The forward now becomes part of a heavy recruitment drive at Kitende, with Vipers also welcoming new arrivals such as Hney, Chukwuma, Mark Yallah, Kevin Dasylva Bady, Taddeo Lwanga, Ashraf Mandela, and Enock Ssebaggala. The Venoms, aiming to fortify their dominance on the domestic front and push deeper into continental football, have clearly set their intentions for the season ahead.
