Thomas Partey is “ready” to play against Tottenham in the Champions League, just a day before he is due to appear in court on rape and sexual assault charges.
The Ghanaian midfielder, 32, was charged last month with five counts of rape and a charge of sexual assault.
The alleged offenses took place between 2021 and 2022 when he was with Arsenal. Partey denies the charges and his lawyer says he wants to “clear his name.”
Villarreal manager Marcelino stated, “I am totally convinced that he is mentally prepared and technically prepared to play tomorrow.”
When asked about potential hostility from fans, Marcelino focused on the football, saying, “We’re interpreting stuff about and talking about a player that could be totally innocent.”
