Bunha Chase Eighth Straight Knockout Berth in MTN Busoga Masaza Cup

Bunha will look to extend their remarkable consistency when they welcome Bulamogi to Wembley Playground in Mayuge on Thursday, aiming to reach the MTN Busoga Masaza Cup knockout stage for the eighth straight year.

Despite their record of three finals without a trophy, Coach John Bosco Mugerwa believes this could finally be the season to end the drought. “We know this is a do-or-die encounter, but with our preparation and home advantage, we’ll get the result,” Mugerwa said.

The coach is no stranger to success, having guided Butembe to their second title in the previous edition. He insists Bunha have the mentality to go all the way. “I’ve prepared my boys to suffer for the ultimate goal because I know what it takes to be a champion. They’re ready to give everything,” he added.

Mugerwa acknowledged Bunha’s main challenge has been turning possession into goals, but he believes that problem has been solved. He expects striker Mutebe Karim to find his scoring touch after a quiet start.

Bunha top the tightly contested Kagulu group with three points from three games, in a pool where no team has yet won or lost. Only two goals have been scored in four matches, the lowest tally in the competition’s group-stage history.

Bulamogi sit bottom with two points from two matches but remain in contention. A win in Mayuge would push them into the quarterfinals for the first time with a game to spare, a major milestone for the side.

Elsewhere, Bugabula, Bukono, and Bugweri have already booked their quarterfinal places.
