Gulu is set to become the heartbeat of Ugandan volleyball when it hosts the 2025 National Volleyball Clubs Championship at Pece Primary School Grounds from October 4 to 5.
The Uganda Volleyball Federation, working with the Northern Uganda Volleyball Association (NUVA), will welcome top clubs from across the country for two days of action. Powerhouses like Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC), Nemo Stars, KCCA, Sport-S, KCB Nkumba, Elyon, and Gulu City Volleyball Club are all expected. Nemo Stars return as the defending men’s champions, while Sport-S will aim to keep their women’s crown.
NUVA chairperson Ms. Dieperink Varinia says Gulu is ready to host athletes, coaches, and fans, promising a festival of sport and culture. “The 2025 National Volleyball Clubs Championship will leave a lasting legacy for the people of Northern Uganda,” she said. “Visitors can also explore sites like Aruu Falls and enjoy Acholi cultural experiences and cuisine.”
Organizers are actively seeking sponsors to boost visibility and support youth and community development. Interested partners can reach NUVA through the chairperson at 0763 328032 or the treasurer at 0771 670413.
Local stakeholders have also urged government to invest more in sports infrastructure and decentralize facilities to nurture talent capable of competing at continental and international levels.
The tournament will feature a round-robin format, with clubs battling over two days for national bragging rights and the chance to showcase Uganda’s growing volleyball talent.
