The Lyca Women’s T20 Series at Lugogo Cricket Oval delivered another day of commanding performances as Bujjagali Rafters and Itanda Kayakers kept their winning form on Matchday 5.
The Rafters stretched their unbeaten run with a 25-run win over Sipi Trekkers. Batting first, Bujjagali posted 100 for 6, led by former Victoria Pearls skipper Consylate Aweko Nimungu who struck a brisk 24 off 18 balls.
Iloku Esther chipped in with 23 off 32 while Malisa Ariokot added a patient 22 off 37. Sipi’s bowling unit shared the wickets, with current Victoria Pearls captain Janet Mbabazi, Teddy Oyella, Nassuna Tahia and Stephanie Nampiina each taking one.
Sipi’s chase never settled, the side dismissed for 75 in 20 overs. Mbabazi top-scored with 28 off 26, Leila Nalukenge followed with 10 off 29, and the rest of the middle order managed only single digits. Rafters bowlers Malisa Ariokot, Immaculate Nakisuuyi and Agnes Ninsiima all claimed two wickets apiece to seal the win.
Earlier, the Itanda Kayakers battled to 86 for 9 against Karuma Rapids. Namiro Mary and Rita Musamali each hit 28 off 29, while Mbwali Naome made 11 off 17. Rapids bowler Nyamer Devine Gabriella stood out with figures of 3 for 13.
The Rapids fell short in reply, finishing on 69 for 9 in 18.5 overs. Captain Kevin Awino anchored the innings with 33 off 42, but support never came. Itanda’s attack proved decisive as Tino Sarah took 4 for 14 and Sarah Akiteng 3 for 10 to close out a 17-run victory.
