Uganda Premier League champions, Vipers SC, have learned their next hurdle in the CAF Champions League qualifiers.
The Venoms will face Zambian giants Power Dynamos in the second preliminary round as they chase a historic spot in the group stages.
Vipers advanced after edging out Namibia’s African Stars 2-0 on aggregate.
Ivan Minnaert’s men earned a slim 1-0 victory away in South Africa last week through Hillary Mukundane’s decisive goal, before Yunus Sentamu sealed the tie with another solitary goal at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, on Saturday.
Their next opponents, Power Dynamos, eliminated Ivorian powerhouse ASEC Mimosas in dramatic fashion.
After both legs ended 1-0 in favour of the home sides, the tie was decided by penalties, with the Zambians prevailing 5-4.
The first leg between Vipers and Power Dynamos will be staged at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on October 18, with the return leg in Zambia a week later.
Vipers will be hoping to reach the CAF Champions League group stages for the second time.
Their maiden appearance was in the 2022/23 season finishing bottom of Group C with two points.
