Uganda Athletics has rolled out a week-long training program for 24 coaches, designed to raise technical standards and strengthen the country’s competitiveness at international level.
The course, which began on October 1, is being conducted at Namboole Stadium and Kyambogo University.
It includes two days of online assessments before moving into five days of practical sessions on the track and field.
Federation General Secretary Beatrice Ayikoru said the initiative is part of efforts to rebuild after Uganda’s disappointing medal-less outing at the recent World Championships in Tokyo.
“We are back on the drawing board to analyze and correct everything that could have contributed to Team Uganda returning without a medal,” she noted.
Uganda Athletics President Dominic Otuchet described the World Athletics Level One course as a crucial step in ensuring coaches acquire the skills needed to better guide athletes.
“By strengthening coach education, we can build a solid technical foundation and give our athletes the preparation required to meet the demands of global competition,” he said.
