Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is unwilling to set a firm timeline for Alisson Becker’s return after the goalkeeper sustained a hamstring injury in Tuesday’s Champions League defeat.
Despite media reports suggesting the Brazilian star could be out for six weeks, potentially returning after the mid-November international break, Slot was cautious.
“It’s always difficult to say the amount of days and weeks,” Slot stated, confirming Alisson would miss Saturday’s trip to Chelsea and upcoming Brazil duty. He added he would be “surprised” if Alisson was ready immediately after the international break.
The £29 million signing Giorgi Mamardashvili will start in Alisson’s place against Chelsea.
Liverpool, who remain top of the Premier League, are also hopeful that Hugo Ekitike and Federico Chiesa will be fit for the match.
