Mbale Golf Club’s junior team once again proved its rising strength on Uganda’s youth golf scene, dominating the 2025 US Kids Golf Tournament held at the Uganda Golf Club and Entebbe Golf Club.
The young golfers displayed impressive composure and skill across the two venues, standing out among more than 60 competitors who took part in 14 categories for medals and honors.
Their strong showing underscored the growing impact of Mbale’s junior golf program, which continues to nurture some of the country’s most promising young talents.
One of the standout performers was Shekina Chebet from Shekinah Glory Christian International School in Mbale, whose determined play drew admiration from both fans and organizers.
Chebet, who has become a beacon for young girls in the Elgon region, hopes her performance will inspire more to take up golf.
“My next target is to show other junior golfers in Mbale that golf is very important. We have 16 golfers in Mbale who are underprivileged, and I’d love to give them an opportunity to play one day,” said Chebet.
Tournament director Theodor van Rooyen praised the juniors for their spirit and discipline, singling out Team Mbale for their teamwork and consistency throughout the competition.
The team’s individual performances were equally impressive, with Shanita Chebet posting 89 points, Ayeta Jethra 104, Shemaiah Chebet 56, Bliss Wamai 59, Zuena Mbabazi participating commendably, Davinia Awili 128, and Cooper Calvin 115.
As the tournament continues through its six-series calendar, overall winners from each category will earn full sponsorship to represent Uganda at the US Kids Golf International Tournament in Dubai this December.
