Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou is under intense pressure after a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United stretched his winless start to seven games across all competitions.
Following the loss at St James’ Park, which leaves Forest just one point above the relegation zone, Postecoglou confirmed he “expects” to hold discussions with owner Evangelos Marinakis and the club’s hierarchy.
“If people want to make an assessment after three and a half weeks… there’s nothing I can do about that,” the Australian stated, responding to chants of “sacked in the morning” from home fans.
Despite making a defensive shift that drew praise from pundits like Danny Murphy, Forest failed to convert a more pragmatic performance into points.
They ultimately succumbed to goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Nick Woltemade, finishing the game with an xG of only 0.29.
Postecoglou, who inherited a team that qualified for Europe last season, remains defiant, vowing to use the upcoming international break as “crucial” time to work with key players.
“It’s a fight, it’s a struggle? So what? That’s OK. I love a fight,” he declared, insisting that nothing has changed his view on the “massive challenge” of taking the club where he believes it needs to be.
