Uganda is ready to host the 2025 East African Parliamentary Games, according to Asuman Basalirwa, the Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee.
Speaking at Parliament, Basalirwa said Uganda had stepped up to take on the responsibility after Burundi withdrew due to its national elections.
He assured that the country was prepared to deliver a successful event that upholds the region’s values of unity and cooperation through sports.
“Uganda is fully prepared to host the games and maintain the spirit of regional cooperation through sports,” Basalirwa said.
The 15th edition of the Games will run from December 5th to 17th at venues yet to be confirmed. Uganda heads into the tournament as defending champions, having won the overall title at last year’s event in Kenya.
Teams from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan will compete in football, netball, volleyball, basketball, athletics, and golf.
