The Uganda Dance Sport Federation (UDSF) held its Annual General Assembly on Saturday at Pope Paul VI Memorial Hotel in Kampala, attracting observers from the National Council of Sports (NCS) and the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC).
Speaking at the assembly, Senior Sports Officer Anne Nankya, who represented NCS, praised the federation’s organization and professionalism.
“Uganda Dance Sport Federation has set an example for many other sports organizations. Everything is done the right way, and we are sure they’re one of the most efficient federations,” she said.
UOC President Dr. Donald Rukare echoed her sentiments, commending the steady progress of the sport. “This assembly is a clear sign that Dance Sport is one of the fastest-growing sports in Uganda,” Rukare noted.
The assembly also featured elections, where Innocent Amutuheire was elected unopposed as president for the next four years, replacing Sharifah Sanyu Mubigere. Amutuheire, who is currently abroad for studies, was chosen in absentia.
In other results, Abaasi Bogere was elected first vice president, with Denis Owach taking the position of second vice president. Founder member Barnabas Ssebuyungo returned as general secretary, while Elsie Namagembe was voted treasurer.
The only contested seat saw Mable Birunji defeat Joseph Asiimwe to become technical leader. Other elected officials included Godfrey Mayanja (Legal), Eunice Birunji (Gender Equality), and Allan Nkuruziza (Member).
In a landmark decision, delegates also adopted a new term limit policy, setting a maximum of two four-year terms for all federation leaders, effective immediately.
