Former Uganda women’s national team player Jean Sseninde has been appointed Interim Executive Director of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) by the Confederation of African Football.
Sseninde, who has been serving as CECAFA’s Women Football Development Manager, assumes the position with immediate effect.
Her appointment marks another milestone in her growing administrative career after years of involvement in regional football development.
CECAFA Acting President Alexandre Muyenge welcomed the appointment, noting that the organization would offer full support to Sseninde as she leads efforts to strengthen football across the 12-member zone.
The region includes Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Zanzibar.
Sseninde’s new role comes shortly after a leadership change at CECAFA, with Muyenge, who also serves as President of the Burundi Football Federation, taking over as Acting President last month following the departure of South Sudan’s Augustino Maduot Parek.
The leadership transition signals a new phase for the regional body as it seeks to expand its programs and reinforce football structures across East and Central Africa.
