England manager Thomas Tuchel expressed disappointment with the “silent” atmosphere at Wembley after his side’s 3-0 friendly win over Wales.
Goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka secured the victory in the first 20 minutes, but Tuchel complained the team “never got any energy back from the stands,” especially in a flat second half.
The German coach, who has won six of his seven matches in charge, said the performance “deserved big support” and that he was “a little underwhelmed.”
Former England defender Stephen Warnock backed the manager, saying the display “warranted a good response from the fans.”
Fan reaction was mixed: some agreed that Wembley attracts “tourists” and “casual fans” who do not create noise, while others felt Tuchel was overreacting to the atmosphere at a friendly that was effectively won early.
Tuchel, however, promised the team will continue to do everything “to be infectious” for the fans.
