The inaugural Oil and Gas Sports Gala lit up Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo today, bringing together ten companies for a fun-filled day of competition, teamwork, and community spirit.
Sponsored by the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), the event attracted hundreds of participants from across the oil and gas sector, all uniting under one goal, to promote fitness, friendship, and social impact.
The gala featured a mix of competitive and light-hearted games including football, netball, basketball, and tug of war.
One of the crowd favorites was the CEO challenge, where company heads ditched their suits for sportswear and showed off their skills in woodball, drawing laughter and applause from spectators.
Gloria Sebikari, Manager of Corporate Affairs at the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, said proceeds from the event will support community development projects, reinforcing the sector’s dedication to giving back to society.
Sebikari noted that the day’s success reflects how sports can strengthen unity and well-being within the industry. She added that the gala’s impact goes beyond competition, serving as a platform for collaboration and positive change.
