Kylian Mbappé extended his scoring streak to ten consecutive matches for club and country as France defeated Azerbaijan 3-0 in a World Cup Qualifier at the Parc des Princes.
The Real Madrid captain opened the scoring just before halftime (45’+2) with his 53rd international goal, marking his 17th strike of the season. He then assisted Adrien Rabiot’s header in the 69th minute.
Mbappé, who was a pre-match doubt with an ankle issue, was replaced late in the game by Florian Thauvin (84′), who sealed the victory with the third goal on his return to the national squad.
Despite his prolific start, Mbappé’s 17 goals place him just behind rivals Erling Haaland (18 in 11) and Harry Kane (18 in 10) in the overall European scoring charts.
However, the Frenchman currently leads the Champions League scoring charts with five goals.
