Golf legend Tiger Woods has had disc replacement surgery, marking the seventh back procedure in the past decade and the latest setback to his return to the PGA Tour.
The 15-time major champion, 49, has been sidelined since July 2024. He announced on social media that he opted for the surgery, performed by Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi, due to “pain and lack of mobility.”
Woods stated the procedure was a “good decision for my health” and was “deemed successful.”
The surgery follows an already challenging year for Woods, which included a left Achilles tendon rupture in March and a limited schedule since his 2021 car accident.
His continued recovery means he is absent from the player list for his own Hero World Challenge in December.
