Memphis Depay delivered a historic performance on Sunday, breaking the national assist record and extending his goalscoring mark in the Netherlands’ comfortable 4-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Finland.
The 31-year-old forward provided his record-breaking 34th and 35th assists early on, setting up Donyell Malen (8′) and Virgil van Dijk (17′) for the opening two goals.
Depay then slotted home a 38th-minute penalty to reach 54 goals for his country, stretching his own national record.
Cody Gakpo added a late fourth (84′).
With the win, the Netherlands top Group G, holding a three-point advantage over Poland after six matches.
