Uganda’s women’s pool team, the She Cranes, have kicked off their campaign at the Africa Ultimate Pool Championship, also known as the Ultimate Pool South Africa – All African Championship, with a strong showing at eBundu Lodge.
Despite a long overnight journey from Johannesburg, the She Cranes immediately displayed resilience.
They began with a 19-6 defeat to Uganda’s formidable men’s team but quickly bounced back.
The team stunned Kenya’s senior side with a narrow 13-12 victory before securing an equally impressive win over Team Windhoek from Namibia, earning a crucial bonus point.
The She Cranes are buoyed by their start and remain optimistic about upsetting expectations as they prepare to face 10 more teams in the round-robin team event, which wraps up on Wednesday. The singles competition will begin Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Ugandan men’s team is continuing its unbeaten run, registering comfortable wins against Uganda B and Tanzania’s Cuemasters, the latter 16-9.
Competition at the Championship runs until Saturday, October 18, 2025.
