Paul Put: “Uganda Ready to Give Everything Against Algeria”

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put says his team is ready to give everything when they face Algeria in a decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night in Algiers.

Speaking after the team’s final training session, Put praised his players for their commitment and spirit despite a long journey to North Africa.

“Our journey to Algeria took some time, but I’m very happy with how the players have responded. What I saw in training gives me a lot of confidence,” said Put. “The players are ready to give everything to make the people proud and to make themselves proud.”

The Belgian tactician emphasized that his team is not intimidated by the challenge ahead.

“It will be a big game in a full stadium with seventy thousand people, but I have full trust in this team. They’ve shown strong attitude and professionalism, and we believe in what we can achieve,” he said.

Put also expressed gratitude to Ugandan fans for their continued support, urging them to stay behind the team. “I want to thank our supporters. They always give us great energy. We ask them to remain positive as we go into this important match,” he added.

Uganda go into the final qualifier sitting second in Group G with 18 points, four behind leaders Algeria. A strong performance in Algiers could boost their hopes of advancing as one of the best second-placed teams in the CAF World Cup qualification standings.
