Uganda’s marathon hero Jacob Kiplimo returned home on Tuesday night as he landed safely at Entebbe International Airport following his record-breaking triumph at the 2025 Chicago Marathon.
The 24-year-old arrived shortly before midnight, greeted by a delegation representing the National Council of Sports (NCS) and the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF).
The team, led by NCS Assistant General Secretary Mr. Chebet Milton, applauded Kiplimo for his historic performance that saw him clinch the men’s title in 2:02:21, the fastest marathon ever run by a Ugandan.
Kiplimo’s win in Chicago, his second-ever marathon, shattered the previous national record and marked the seventh-fastest time in history.
The Ugandan star is expected to rest briefly before resuming training ahead of next year’s major races.
