Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the return of Fabio Paratici as joint-sporting director, two-and-a-half years after he resigned following a 30-month Fifa ban.
Paratici, 53, will oversee the men’s football strategy alongside Johan Lange.
His original suspension was for financial irregularities from his time at Juventus, which resulted in the Italian club being deducted 10 points in Serie A.
The path for his return was cleared recently after a judge in Rome accepted a plea bargain, meaning Paratici will not serve an 18-month prison sentence (though this does not constitute an admission of guilt).
“I’m delighted to be returning to a club that I love,” said Paratici, who had been working for Spurs on a consultancy basis for months.
Analysts view his extensive contacts and know-how as “invaluable” to the club’s leadership structure.
