As the dust settles following the climax of the breathtaking 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cote d’Ivoire, attention has shifted to the next tournament. The preliminary draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is set for Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in Cairo, Egypt. The draw starts at 3PM Ugandan time and in this round, the eight lowest-ranked teams, including Somalia, Djibouti, Sao Tome, Chad, Mauritius, South Sudan, Liberia, and Eswatini, will play home and away matches during the FIFA Window of 18-26 March 2024.
Only four teams will advance to join the 44 exempted teams for the group stage. The draw will divide the teams into two pots based on their FIFA rankings.
Pot 1 includes Somalia, Djibouti, Sao Tome, and Chad while Pot 2 has Mauritius, South Sudan, Liberia, and Eswatini. The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals will be held in Morocco in July and August, Ivory Coast as the defending champions after seeing off Nigeria in the 2023 final
