Ferrari chairman John Elkann has publicly affirmed the company’s “full confidence” in Formula 1 team principal Fred Vasseur, dispelling speculation that the team was courting former Red Bull boss Christian Horner.
The strong endorsement comes during a difficult 2025 season for the Scuderia, who are in danger of dropping to fourth in the constructors’ standings. Their only victory this year was a sprint race win by Lewis Hamilton in China.
Elkann, speaking at an event in Washington DC, stressed the importance of unity: “I want to express our full confidence in our team principal, Fred Vasseur, and in the work he is carrying out… to maintain focus on the only goal that matters: always giving our very best on the track.”
The statement follows reports of a possible approach to Horner, which Hamilton described as “distracting.” Vasseur, who took the role in January 2023, was given a new contract just two and a half months ago.
In the US Grand Prix sprint race, Hamilton finished fourth with teammate Charles Leclerc fifth.
