NEC Football Club have suspended head coach Hussein Mbalangu for two months over professional and ethical misconduct linked to his involvement in the Masaza Cup.
The club announced the decision on Monday, confirming that Mbalangu had been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
In a statement shared on their social media platforms, the club said assistant coach James Odoch will take charge on an interim basis.
Mbalangu’s suspension follows his participation with Ssingo, one of the finalists in this year’s Masaza Cup, a move the club described as a breach of commitment.
The timing of the disciplinary action coincides with NEC’s early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup and a winless start to their league campaign.
The Diehards have drawn both of their opening games this season, including a 2-2 stalemate with Police in which they squandered a two-goal lead.
Odoch, who previously managed Express, now takes charge as NEC look to regain stability ahead of their next league fixture against Entebbe UPPC on Saturday, October 25 away at Bugonga Fisheries Ground.
