Uganda’s national swimming team has once again proven its supremacy in the pool, returning home golden and jubilant after successfully defending their Africa Aquatics Zone 3 Championship title in Kenya.
The victory marks Uganda’s third consecutive championship win, reaffirming the nation’s dominance as East Africa’s leading swimming powerhouse.
Led by captain Ampaire Namanya, Team Uganda produced an exceptional performance across all events. Rising stars Tyrah Muganzi and Jonathan Kaweesa stood out with impressive displays that earned admiration from fans and competitors across the region.
In one of the most memorable moments of the championship, 68-year-old Masters swimmer Pastor Charles Ogwana defied age and expectations by clinching a medal, his passion and perseverance inspiring swimmers of all generations.
With celebrations still flowing back home in Kampala, Uganda’s attention now shifts to next year’s 11th edition of the Zone 3 Championships, which the country will host—a fitting opportunity to showcase its growing pool of talent on home soil.
