The 13th event of the Corporate Masters Golf series took place on Saturday at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa in Kigo, marking the first time the tournament had been conducted in the country. Uganda was chosen as the newest venue for the series, which had previously taken place in well-known golfing destinations in Kenya. This decision indicates Uganda’s rising stature in the world of golf. This was the inaugural circuit staged outside of Kenya.
The gathering of business executives, CEOs, diplomats, expatriates, government officials, and top executives on Saturday, powered by DStv for Business, created an environment that smoothly merged the domains of business and sport. The Corporate Masters Golf Series brought together prominent individuals to demonstrate their golf skills in a relaxed yet competitive atmosphere.
As the anchor sponsor, DSTV for Business brand took center stage at the Corporate Masters golf tournament. Other partners included Unilever (OMO), MTN Uganda, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), Sentas Tours and Travel, NSSF, Solana, G.A. Insurance, and Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa.
The team that won overall was Team Master Power, which included Dave Plenderleith, John Muchiri, Jadu Patel, and Suresh Patel. They scored 35.75 points.
First and second runners up were MTN Five (35.25 points) and MTN Four (34.67 points – count back).
In the end, Matthew Nviri emerged victorious with 46 points, surpassing Paul Ndyaguma (43 points – count back) and William Mpungu (43 points).
With 43 points, Andrew Kibaya won the men’s competition, and Dinah Ongol Acen won the women’s division with 42 points.
Kibaya also brought the house down with a stunning hole-in-one on hole number seven. Martin Kinyua won the top overall award for being the day’s most exceptional Kenyan with 39 points.
Kinyua, an official for the Corporate Masters Golf brand, was blown away by how the game of golf has been embraced in Uganda.
“We are quite impressed with the response from the companies and the golfers at the inaugural Corporate Golf Masters in Uganda. This is an event that caters to both celebrities who play golf for business purposes as well as the world’s best players. We plan to host a ton of events in the future.”
