Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has sparked a debate after his new YouTube video revealed he regularly drinks raw, unpasteurised milk, which he hails as a “superfood.”
The 25-year-old athlete’s unusual diet choice has drawn a sharp warning from the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
While the sale of raw milk is legal in England, the FSA advises that it “may contain harmful bacteria that can cause food poisoning.”
They strongly recommend that vulnerable people, including the elderly, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems, avoid it entirely.
A former City academy nutritionist, Dan Richardson, cautioned against people copying Haaland’s habit, noting that while the star likely uses a high-quality source, others might buy less-safe versions.
Richardson stated that athletes should focus on proven, fundamental nutrition rather than chasing trends.
Haaland’s endorsement has already caused a surge in demand at the Cheshire farm where he gets his supply.
