A new chapter in Ugandan futsal begins this weekend as the Futsal Women Super League officially kicks off on Saturday at the Okla Futsal Arena.
The inaugural season promises a thrilling showcase of speed, skill, and determination from some of the country’s best female futsal players, marking a major step forward for the women’s game.
The opening fixtures will feature Old Kampala Futsal Club against UG KOP Futsal Club, followed by Lamanisia Futsal Club taking on Entebbe Cheeters. The day’s final clash will see Mengo City face Mbarara QC.
According to the Futsal Association of Uganda (FAU), the launch of the Women Super League is a key milestone in their efforts to promote inclusivity and professionalize the sport at all levels.
FAU Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Mugera emphasized the league’s strategic importance, noting that it lays the groundwork for the next phase of futsal development in Uganda.
“This league isn’t just about competition. It’s about creating opportunities, inspiring young girls, and building a sustainable pathway for women in futsal,” Mugera said.
The Women Super League now joins the men’s Futsal Super League and the U17 category as part of FAU’s broader vision to grow the sport nationwide.
