Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has laughed off Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche’s past criticism of his tactics as the two prepare to face off this Saturday, marking Amorim’s one-year anniversary at the club.
In May, Dyche suggested Amorim would win more games simply by playing a 4-4-2 formation. Amorim dismissed the remark, saying he understands “strong things” are expected from a pundit.
“I always said that I have a way of playing that is going to take a while and then in the future it’s going to be better,” Amorim stated, noting his respect for Dyche’s intelligence.
United heads into the match at the City Ground with three straight wins, a sign of improving fortunes after a tough start that included a 15th-place finish and a Europa League final loss.
Amorim called his first year a “big journey” and an “honour,” affirming his belief in his methods.
In team news, defender Lisandro Martinez returned to training this week after an ACL injury in February, though he is not ready for the match. Harry Maguire’s fitness is still in doubt.
