Allan Ssewanyana Backs Sports Leaders Joining Politics

Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana has praised former FUFA president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, describing him as a true pillar of Ugandan football who stood firm during the game’s most difficult periods.

Ssewanyana lauded Mulindwa’s unwavering dedication and personal investment in the sport, highlighting his efforts to identify and nurture young talent across the country.

He said Mulindwa’s contributions have opened doors for both local and international scouts to discover Ugandan players and give them opportunities to shine.

“Dr. Mulindwa deserves the highest level of respect when it comes to sports because he is the greatest local investor who has supported football from talent development to constructing a stadium,” Ssewanyana said.

He also urged FUFA president Moses Magogo to seek Mulindwa’s counsel, stressing that the former federation leader’s involvement has always been driven by passion rather than profit.

“Magogo should always respect and seek guidance from Mulindwa because he has given so much to Ugandan sports without expecting anything in return,” Ssewanyana added.

Dr. Mulindwa, who currently heads Vipers Sports Club and oversees St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, remains a key figure in Ugandan football. His influence continues to shape the sport’s growth, serving as both an investor and a mentor to the next generation of players and administrators.
