National Cross Country Championships Shift to Mbale Golf Course

The 2025 National Cross Country Championships have been officially moved from Tororo Golf Course to Mbale Golf Course, though the event will still take place on November 15, 2025.

The decision to relocate was made to provide athletes with a better and more competitive running environment as they vie for qualification points ahead of the World Athletics Cross Country Championships, scheduled for January 10, 2026, in Tallahassee, USA.

The Mbale course is expected to offer a more challenging terrain suitable for both elite and upcoming runners.

The event will feature a full day of races across various categories, including 10km for senior men and women, 8km for juniors, 4km for mixed relays, 2km for senior men and women, and a 2km masters race for participants aged 35 and above.

Top local stars such as Jacob Kiplimo are expected to headline the event, making it one of the most anticipated fixtures on Uganda’s athletics calendar as runners battle for national glory and international qualification.
