Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank confirmed that defenders Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence have apologized after being criticized for skipping the lap of appreciation following Saturday’s 1-0 home loss to Chelsea.
Frank stated on Monday that the players visited his office to explain their actions, assuring him “no disrespect meant at all” and that they were simply “frustrated with the performance” and the fan booing.
The incident underscores growing tensions as Spurs struggle with terrible home form.
They have not won a Premier League home game since the opening day of the season.
Spurs have secured just three wins in their last 19 games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium across two managerial tenures.
Frank accepted the apology, saying he considers the matter closed as the team prepares to host Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday.
He also appealed to fans for better support during matches, suggesting their backing could be a “turning point” in games.
