Crystal Palace face a misconduct charge from the Football Association (FA) following a highly controversial banner displayed by supporters during the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in August.
The banner, unfurled at Selhurst Park, depicted Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis holding a gun to the head of his midfielder, Morgan Gibbs-White.
It also featured text sarcastically denying serious allegations against Marinakis.
The FA’s charge is for failing to ensure supporters did not behave in an “improper, offensive, abusive or provocative way,” citing strict rules against defamatory and offensive messaging.
The match carried existing tension, as it was the first meeting since Palace was relegated from the Europa League to the Conference League due to multi-club ownership rules, with Forest taking their spot.
Crystal Palace must submit their response to the charge by Tuesday.
