Rogers Mato is once again proving why he is one of Uganda’s brightest footballing talents, delivering a performance that keeps FK Vardar firmly in the title conversation.
The Ugandan international and dynamic winger found the back of the net as Vardar narrowly overcame Pelister 2-1 in an edgy encounter on Wednesday night.
Mato’s strike was his 11th in just 12 league outings this season, underscoring a sensational goal-scoring run that has made him the beating heart of Vardar’s attack.
His scoring prowess isn’t limited to domestic competition; the Uganda Cranes international has also impressed in European action. Across the Europa Conference League qualifiers, Mato has added three goals in four appearances, taking his overall tally to 14 goals and one assist in just 16 matches across all competitions.
Meanwhile, the match itself remained tense until the closing stages, when Goran Zakaric stepped up to net a late winner and secure the three points for Vardar. Petar Petkovski had earlier pulled one back for Pelister, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Mato and Vardar from claiming the victory.
FK Vardar now lead the North Macedonian league table, boasting 30 points from 12 games. With confidence surging and his finishing touch sharper than ever, Mato appears primed to continue his electrifying run, leaving fans and opponents alike eagerly anticipating what comes next.
